BlackBerry has announced that its popular messaging platform BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) will soon be coming pre-installed on LG smartphones.
Waterloo, Ontario-based BlackBerry said the G Pro Lite, an Android-based smartphone, will be the first LG device to offer BBM out-of-the-box.
The announcement comes less than two months after BlackBerry began to roll out its BBM service to users of Android and iPhone devices.
“BBM is widely used throughout the Middle East, Africa and Indonesia where smartphone users tend to engage heavily in social networking,” said Kevin Shin, vice president of marketing for Asia, Middle East and CIS countries, LG Mobile.
Andrew Bocking, executive vice president for BBM said, “We’re extremely pleased that LG Electronics will help bring their customers a more seamless experience with BBM by pre-loading the app, starting with the G Pro Lite in key markets.”
The Canadian manufacturer has also inked deals with Indian companies like Micromax, Spice, Zen and Celkon to pre-load BBM on their smartphones.
