Realme 12 Pro (Review) is the most recent mid-range offering from Realme to debut in the Indian market. However, it entered the market amidst a plethora of alternative choices. In January of this year, Poco and Xiaomi introduced new phones that present comparable or superior features compared to the Realme 12 Pro. Poco introduced the Poco X6 series, while Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Note 13 Pro lineup. In this comparison, we will assess the Realme 12 Pro 5G against the Poco X6 Pro to determine the superior option.

Realme 12 Pro vs Poco X6 Pro Price Comparison in India

In India, the Realme 12 Pro is presented in two configurations. The 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 25,999, while the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model is available at Rs. 26,999.

On the other hand, the Poco X6 Pro starts at Rs. 26,999 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. Additionally, the Poco variant with 12GB RAM + 512GB storage is priced at Rs. 28,999.

At first glance, the Poco X6 Pro appears to offer a more appealing deal as it provides twice the storage in its base variant. It’s noteworthy that the Realme 12 Pro lacks expandable storage. In 2024, a significant number of consumers express a preference for a minimum of 256GB storage in the base variant, especially when expandable storage is not an option.

Realme 12 Pro vs Poco X6 Pro Design and Display

Delving into the design aspect, the Realme 12 Pro stands out as the unequivocal winner. It boasts an elegant vegan leather finish on the rear panel and a camera module inspired by luxury watches. The Poco X6 Pro, while not lacking in design appeal, falls slightly short of the Realme phone’s aesthetic charm. Both devices exude a premium feel, despite utilizing plastic for the frame and back panel.

Moreover, the Realme 12 Pro offers enhanced comfort in hand due to its dual curved design. The vegan leather finish not only adds to its visual appeal but also helps repel fingerprints and smudges—a feature not shared by the Poco phone. It’s worth noting that while the Poco X6 Pro holds its own, personal preferences may lean towards the flat display it offers.

Turning our attention to the display, the dynamics shift. The Poco X6 Pro takes the lead with its superior and more vivid screen. Featuring a 6.67-inch AMOLED flat panel with a 1.5K resolution, the Poco X6 Pro boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and an impressive high brightness mode reaching 1,200 nits. Additionally, Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5 ensures the protection of the screen.

In contrast, the Realme 12 Pro features a larger 6.7-inch AMOLED display. However, its panel provides full-HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 500 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM), and supports HDR10. Unlike the Poco X6 Pro, the Realme 12 Pro does not come equipped with Gorilla Glass protection. Nevertheless, the company asserts that the phone incorporates a 0.55mm double-reinforced glass layer over the panel for added durability.

Realme 12 Pro vs Poco X6 Pro Performance and Software

In terms of specifications, the Realme 12 Pro is powered by a 4nm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC and operates on Android 14-based Realme UI 5.0 straight out of the box. With a maximum configuration of 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, the phone delivers commendable performance for everyday tasks. While it may not be a powerhouse, it handles gaming reasonably well, although not at the highest settings, and may exhibit some lag during extended gaming sessions. On AnTuTu, the phone achieves a score of 590,047 points with the performance mode enabled. Additionally, users have the option to augment VRAM by up to 8GB using the Dynamic RAM feature.

On the other hand, the Poco X6 Pro boasts an impressive price-to-performance ratio. It is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 Ultra SoC, paired with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. Running on Android 14-based HyperOS out-of-the-box, the phone achieved an AnTuTu score of 14,37,717, nearly double that of the Realme phone. This superior performance is noticeable during gaming and daily tasks, offering a smoother and faster experience compared to the Realme counterpart.

Both devices feature an in-display fingerprint scanner, dual stereo speakers, and a USB Type-C port. However, the Poco X6 Pro goes a step further with the inclusion of an Infrared blaster, and its speakers deliver a louder output with slightly more bass.

Turning to the software aspect, both phones operate on Android 14-based UIs, albeit accompanied by a fair amount of pre-installed applications. The Realme 12 Pro and Poco X6 Pro offer extensive customization options. Realme commits to two years of software updates and three years of security updates, while Poco extends support to three years of software updates and four years of security updates.

Realme 12 Pro vs Poco X6 Pro Camera Comparison

Cameras play a pivotal role in smartphones, often considered a key feature for many users. The Realme 12 Pro is equipped with a triple rear camera setup, featuring a 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 primary sensor, a 32-megapixel Sony IMX702 telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom, and an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor.

The Poco X6 Pro also features a triple rear camera setup, albeit with slightly less impressive hardware. This setup includes a primary 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B rear camera with OIS, an 8-megapixel OmniVision OV08D ultrawide unit, and an additional 2-megapixel Macro sensor, which some might argue could have been omitted.

In well-lit conditions, the main cameras on both devices yield similar results, but the Poco X6 Pro demonstrates superior performance in low-light scenarios. Notably, the Realme 12 Pro’s advantage lies in its dedicated telephoto sensor, resulting in better 2x shots and portrait photos. However, the Poco X6 Pro outshines in the ultrawide category, delivering better performance with a wider field of view in both daylight and low-light situations. Additionally, both phones are equipped with a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies, delivering comparable performance.

Realme 12 Pro vs Poco X6 Pro Battery Performance

Both the Realme 12 Pro and Poco X6 Pro are equipped with a 5,000mAh battery and are accompanied by a 67W fast charger. Charging the Realme phone from 10 to 100 percent takes approximately 43 minutes, while the Poco X6 Pro requires about 47 minutes to charge from 6 to 100 percent.

Verdict on Realme 12 Pro vs Poco X6 Pro

The Realme 12 Pro stands out with its distinctive design and versatile camera setup, featuring a dedicated telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. However, opting for the Poco X6 Pro provides more value for your money. The Poco device offers a superior display, doubled performance, extended software support, and a commendable camera setup.

Final Verdict

Considering these factors, if I were in the market, I would invest Rs. 26,999 in the Poco X6 Pro for a more comprehensive and satisfying overall experience.
