With over 30 beaches hugging the coastline of Thailand’s largest island, Phuket is a popular tourist destination for travellers all around the world. Each beach has its own characteristics, shapes, and textures catering to every traveller’s tastes. From the vibrant bustling Patong Beach to the secluded Freedom Beach each location offers a unique and memorable experience and here we will take a look at our favourite four.
Kata Beach
Beautiful soft sand, languidly swaying palm trees, clean waters and a soft seabed, Kata Beach has pretty much all you might require in a beach destination. Red and blue long-tail boats beach onto the shoreline on the northern part of the beach where food and drink vendors peddle their wares.

Located on the southwestern coast of the island between Patong and Karon, Kata is also a popular choice for surfers. A stretch of 1.5km Kata Beach is a good friendly family choice that doesn’t get too crowded all year around.
Patong Beach
Without a shadow of a doubt the most popular beach in Phuket, Patong’s 2.5kms is perhaps becoming a victim of its own success. The town behind the beach is the liveliest area in town and is home to many world-class restaurants and hotels, and the epicentre of Phuket’s infamous nightlife.

While the area surrounding the beach may have become a victim of its own success there is no doubting the beauty of the beach itself and it’s easy to see why development first began here when the first Phuket Patong beach resort was established.
Karon Beach
Another popular resort is Karon, about 3.3km in length this is the third longest beach in Phuket and is close to being geometrically straight. Beautifully lined with palm trees and cross-sticked with volleyball nets, the sea here is approachable, although has a reputation for riptides in low season.

Karon Beach also has the bizarre attribute of having sand that appears to squeak underfoot. Karon Beach should not be overlooked when planning a family vacation to the island.
Freedom Beach
For those seeking a more secluded and pristine beach experience, Freedom Beach, nestled between Patong and Karon Beach, is a hidden gem accessible by boat or a short trek through lush jungle. Powdery white sands, and crystal-clear waters, await you along this 300-meter stretch of beach. For snorkelling and scuba-diving this beach is one of the best spots to visit in Thailand without-aqua colourful coral reefs. Vibrant marine life can be observed in this unspoilt secluded paradise.
So, if you are considering a family vacation, planning a solo adventure, or considering relocation, or investment in Phuket why not consider the above four beach locations?
Despite which beach you choose to visit, or call your new home on Phuket, it is inevitable that a future of adventure, relaxation, natural beauty, and bustling nightlife will await you on this, island they call the pearl of the Andaman Sea.
