Hot off the Tokyo Motor Show press, Suzuki has pulled the covers off the all-new fourth-generation Swift, leaving auto enthusiasts, well…swiftly excited. And why not? Forget your ordinary hatchback, this is something entirely different.

Sporting a cutting-edge design bolstered with innovative features and driven by an improved powertrain, the new Swift makes quite the entrance. Yes, it may still carry the ‘concept’ tag, but it’s this same model expected to hit the Indian terrains as the Maruti Suzuki Swift comes next year.

All New Grille and Bumper

Gone are the days when car enthusiasts critiqued the front of the car just by the badge it carries. The all-new Swift is here to change that old yardstick. Standing tall and wide is a muscular black surround that graces a redesigned front bumper and grille.

Adding to this muscular appeal are the smoked LED headlights with DRLs that will surely hypnotize anyone. Look down, and you’ll be staring at a spruced-up fog lamp housing with a splitter- giving you that sense of a sporty charm.

Just when you thought it gets predictable, folks, here’s a curveball. The Suzuki emblem now adorns the hood of the Swift for the first time. Don’t miss the freshly styled dual-tone alloy wheels that shout out style and class. This Swift isn’t shy about flaunting some muscle!

Style Meets Purpose: A Walk Around the New Swift

Moving around the newly unveiled Swift, it’s clear where Suzuki has been busy. The hatchback sports blacked-out ORVMs, roofs, and pillars combined with distinct character lines running across the door panels, resulting in an aggressive stance. Also, gone are the days of flat panel doors. This Swift now sports a redesigned tailgate and a new bumper with a skid plate.

As if giving the competition a cheeky gleam through the integrated rear spoiler wasn’t enough, Suzuki decided to add a high-mounted stop lamp to ensure your Swift is noticed even at night. Follow the taillights, and you will be treated with LED tail lamps that house C-shaped DRLs, and reflectors sitting pretty below. Now, this is a styling statement that the Swift seems to nonchalantly carry!

Under The Hood: Swift’s Heart

The new Swift showcased at the mobility show is a Hybrid model, but when it migrates to Indian shores, it’ll house a traditional 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine under its hood. This engine isn’t short of any mash – with a power output of 90 Ps and a torque of 113Nm, it’s every bit potent.

And guess what? This engine doesn’t stick to the books. Instead of offering just a manual gearbox, it will come with a choice of either a five-speed manual or a five-speed automatic manual transmission. Talk about having options at your disposal! What’s more, this engine will also feature mild-hybrid technology and CNG compatibility. Now, that’s quite a mouthful!

Inside the Swift: Step into Comfort

The interior of the Swift exhibits a beautiful orchestration of aesthetic design and technological wizardry. The dashboard design looks like it has been directly inspired by the existing Maruti Suzuki lineup. What grabs one’s attention is the floating infotainment system located majestically above the chic AC vents and HVAC controls.

Suzuki has meticulously redefined the notion of “standard features,” encompassing a range of valuable inclusions. Noteworthy additions consist of wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, advanced networked car technology, ergonomic steering-mounted controls, and an automated climate control system. Yet, the Swift continues to offer more to entice and delight prospective buyers.

For the safety conscious, there’s also a 360-degree camera and various ADAS technologies like dual sensor brake support, adaptive high beam assist, driver monitoring system, and collision mitigation braking system. Now, that’s what I call being spoilt for choice!

However, it is essential to exercise caution and consider that not all of these advanced features may be readily available in the Indian market. Nevertheless, Maruti Suzuki’s Swift has consistently established itself as a benchmark within its category in the Indian automotive landscape, implying the potential for exciting surprises in store.

Our beloved Swift has been an Indian favorite, and it comfortably lies in the price range between Rs 5.99 lakh and Rs 9.03 lakh (ex-showroom). So, while we wrap up, keep your eyes glued to auto news as we inch closer to potentially seeing Swift’s 4th generation on Indian roads.
