The SUV rides on 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and also gets roof rails and black cladding around the wheel arches and along the lower sections of the doors. A powered tailgate is available as well, adding convenience when loading or unloading luggage.

At the back, the Tomahawk EV features wraparound LED tail-lamps along with a heavily sculpted rear bumper. The overall design gives the electric SUV a wide and substantial stance.

In terms of dimensions, the Hector Tomahawk EV measures 4,745mm in length, 1,850mm in width and 1,770mm in height. It has a 2,810mm wheelbase and offers 230mm of ground clearance.

Inside, MG has gone for a clean and minimalist cabin design. The dashboard follows a brown-and-black colour theme and uses a significant amount of soft-touch material on the dashboard and door pads, giving the cabin a more premium feel.

The interior has been designed around a technology-focused layout, with fewer traditional physical buttons. Several vehicle functions can be controlled through the large touchscreen and gesture-based controls.

The centre of the dashboard houses a large 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, while the driver gets an 8.8-inch digital instrument display for essential driving information.

The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while wireless smartphone charging is also available. Gesture controls can be used for functions such as operating the air-conditioning and audio system, reducing the need to interact with physical controls.

The Hector Tomahawk EV comes loaded with a number of comfort and convenience features. These include ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, 256-colour ambient lighting and a 10-speaker Infinity sound system.

MG has also paid attention to rear-seat comfort, particularly important for the seven-seat version. Rear occupants get roof-mounted air-conditioning vents, sunblinds, LED reading lights, dual USB Type-C charging ports and a centre armrest with integrated cupholders.

The driver’s seat gets memory functionality along with an auto-retract feature. The SUV also offers several dedicated cabin modes, including Nap, Camp, Energise, Pro Pet, Valet and Quiet modes. These are designed to provide different cabin experiences depending on how the vehicle is being used.

MG Hector Tomahawk EV: Safety and ADAS

Safety equipment is another major focus of the Hector Tomahawk EV. Six airbags are standard across all variants, ensuring that even the entry-level version gets a comprehensive basic safety package.

The SUV also comes with a 360-degree camera system, which includes additional functions such as transparent-chassis view and wheel-view functions. These features can make manoeuvring in tight spaces and positioning the vehicle easier.

MG has equipped the Tomahawk EV with an ADAS package offering Level 2 capability. The system includes 11 functions, covering a range of driver-assistance features.

MG Hector Tomahawk EV: Battery, Motor and Range

Powering the MG Hector Tomahawk EV is a 69.2kWh battery pack connected to a front-mounted electric motor. The motor produces 204hp and 310Nm of peak torque.

According to MG, the electric SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 8.2 seconds. The company claims a 517km MIDC range on a full charge, giving the Tomahawk EV enough claimed range for both regular city driving and longer journeys.

The SUV uses a CCS2 charging connection and supports DC fast charging at rates of up to 90kW.

When connected to a 90kW DC fast charger, MG claims that the battery can be charged from 30 percent to 80 percent in approximately 35 minutes. This makes fast top-ups considerably quicker and more practical during long-distance travel.

For home charging, the Hector Tomahawk EV supports 7.4kW AC charging. Using this setup, charging the battery from 10 percent to 100 percent takes around 12.5 hours.

MG is also providing a portable charger that can be connected to a standard 15A socket, giving owners another option for charging the vehicle when a dedicated AC charger is not available.

MG Hector Tomahawk EV: V2L and V2V Functions

The Hector Tomahawk EV also gets some useful EV-specific features, including vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) functionality.

With V2L, the SUV can supply electricity to compatible external equipment and appliances. This can be particularly useful during outdoor activities, camping trips or situations where access to a conventional power source is limited.

The V2V function, meanwhile, allows the Hector Tomahawk EV to transfer power to another electric vehicle. In other words, the SUV can be used to provide a charge to another EV when required.

With its large 69.2kWh battery, claimed 517km MIDC range, three-row seating option, extensive equipment list and multiple charging technologies, the MG Hector Tomahawk EV enters the Indian electric SUV market as a feature-rich option. Its BaaS programme also gives buyers the opportunity to reduce the initial purchase price, although the separate per-kilometre battery rental needs to be considered when calculating the overall ownership cost.
