The iPhone 15 series of smartphones is now available for pre-order. This year, Apple introduced four new models: the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, as successors to the iPhone 14 series, featuring several hardware improvements.
All four models come equipped with a USB Type-C port and the Dynamic Island feature. They will be available for purchase one week from today, but customers can start placing orders as of today.
Pricing and Availability in India
The base model of the iPhone 15, 128GB of storage starts at Rs. 79,900.
The iPhone 15 Plus with the same storage capacity begins at Rs. 89,900.
Both models will be available in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage options and in Black, Blue, Green, Pink, and Yellow colors.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro
Starts at Rs. 1,39,900 for the base model with 128GB of storage.
The iPhone 15 Pro Max begins at Rs. 1,59,900 with 256GB of storage.
Both Pro models can be purchased with up to 1TB of storage and are available in Black Titanium, Blue Titanium, Natural Titanium, and White Titanium colors.
Preorders for all four models, including the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, will begin today at 5:30 pm through Apple’s online store. The official purchase date is set for September 22.
Specifications
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro feature a 6.1-inch OLED display with Ceramic Shield technology for added durability.
The iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max sport a larger 6.7-inch OLED display.
Both Pro models support ProMotion with a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz.
Under the hood
All iPhone 15 models are powered by the A16 Bionic chip, the same processor found in Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro models from 2022.
However, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are equipped with the latest A17 Pro chip, based on 3nm technology, promising enhanced performance compared to its predecessors.
Camera Upgrades
The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus feature a 48-megapixel primary camera alongside a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera.
In contrast, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max come with an improved version of the 48-megapixel sensor introduced in the previous Pro models.
Additionally, the Pro models offer 3x and 5x telephoto cameras, with the latter boasting a periscope camera setup featuring a 120mm focal length.
Other Features
All four iPhone models come equipped with Apple’s latest U2 Ultra-wideband chip for improved device tracking, including compatibility with the new Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Notably, Apple has replaced the old Lightning connector with a USB Type-C port in all four models to comply with upcoming EU regulations.
However, it’s worth noting that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus offer USB 2 support, while the Pro models feature USB 3 with transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps, requiring an “optional” USB cable included in the box, will be a standard USB 2 cable.
