While it’s just a modest increase of 49 cc compared to the 1290 Super Duke R Evo, this adjustment results in higher power and torque figures: 187.7 horsepower (an increase of 7.7 horsepower from the 1290 Super Duke R Evo) and 106.9 pounds-feet of torque (a boost of 3.9 pounds-feet).

Known as the Factory Start system, this suspension-lowering mechanism operates independently of Launch Control. Factory Start becomes inactive and restores the rear shock preload to its normal setting under several conditions. These include when the motorcycle achieves a speed of 18 MPH and is in 4th gear or higher, when the speed hits 18 MPH and the throttle is closed, when the bike reaches 18 MPH with a lean angle greater than 30°, or when the Rider switches ride mode.

Upon deactivation, the preload reverts to the previously selected Preload Adjuster mode on the dashboard. Despite the intricate conditions, the automatic activation and deactivation by the bike itself allow the rider to largely disregard the system and focus on navigating the upcoming corners. The added reassurance comes from the presence of lean-sensitive ABS, ready to assist should the rider need to adjust speed mid-corner.
