Infinait, a Dubai based ready to wear Men’s brand, recently introduced its AW17 range of men’s shirts. Inspired by colours, the brain behind the brand; Renuka Gandhi Undavia, aims to break the monotony of black, white and blue for men’s clothing.
Here’s what she talked with us in a one-on-one conversation.
SV: There is a nice mix of modernity and vintage ethos to your brand. How do you strike the balance and get the creative juices flowing?
RGU: Ideas flow when you least expect it. For me, it’s usually early mornings or late at night right before I sleep, I get a thought that works well. Also, while traveling, you get to explore different kinds of architects that have inspirational shapes, and colours. It’s also through classic movies that have beautiful costumes in them, The sources are many.
SV: What are the key points that you keep in mind while working on a
collection?
RGU: I try not to produce anything that already exists in the market. I try and explore areas that are still not touched by many.
SV: What according to you is the USP of your brand?
RGU: Would be the variety and mix of colours available for men.
SV: What are the memories of your starting days? Share with us some
good and untold memories!
RGU: It’s when you create some design when you are still a student, and see a similar one being showcased on fashion channel on TV, that always made us proud!

SV: What does future hold? What’s coming in next from you?
RGU: Aim is to be able to add more fun, colours, and convenience and comfort to men’s wear clothing.
SV: Last, but not the least! Any advice for the budding men’s fashion designers, and aspiring fashionistas on how to improvise their wardrobe?
RGU: I would say, always be open to experimenting with new styles and colours.
