In a significant update for eco-conscious and budget-minded Indian car buyers, Kia India has expanded its popular Carens MPV lineup with the addition of a CNG fuel option. This move aims to provide buyers with an economical and environmentally friendly alternative to conventional petrol and diesel variants, further strengthening Kia’s presence in the competitive multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment.

The new Kia Carens CNG kit is available as a dealer-level fitment and comes at an additional cost of ₹77,900 over the petrol-powered Premium (O) variant. The base Premium (O) petrol trim itself is priced at ₹10.99 lakh (ex-showroom), making the CNG version a practical and affordable upgrade for those seeking better fuel efficiency and lower running costs.

Factory-Approved Kit and Warranty Details

Kia is offering a government-approved CNG kit sourced from Lovato, a globally reputed CNG systems manufacturer. The installation of this CNG kit comes with a third-party warranty covering 3 years or 1 lakh kilometres, whichever occurs first. This assurance gives buyers peace of mind regarding the reliability and performance of the CNG setup.

While Kia has yet to officially disclose the power, torque, and mileage figures of the 2025 Carens CNG, it’s expected that the model will retain adequate performance while delivering significant savings at the fuel pump—making it an appealing proposition for families and urban commuters alike.

Features and Comfort Remain Uncompromised

Much like the standard Premium (O) petrol variant, the Kia Carens CNG continues to offer an impressive list of comfort, convenience, and safety features. The MPV is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 4-speaker audio system, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Additional highlights include steering-mounted audio controls, voice recognition, and a rear-view camera that enhances safety while reversing. Inside, the cabin features a blend of leather and fabric upholstery, giving it a premium yet comfortable look and feel. The digital instrument cluster provides modern appeal and essential driving information at a glance.

When it comes to safety and control, the Carens CNG variant leaves little to be desired. It comes equipped with rear disc brakes, hill start assist, electronic stability control (ESC), hill descent control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)—ensuring the vehicle remains stable and responsive in various driving conditions.

Shared Powertrains with the Kia Seltos

The Kia Carens continues to share its engine lineup with the Kia Seltos, providing a versatile range of powertrain options. These include a 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 140bhp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a 115bhp, 1.5-litre diesel engine.

Transmission choices remain flexible, offering a 6-speed manual gearbox, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DCT), and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. These multiple configurations make the Carens suitable for a wide spectrum of buyers — from those who prefer fuel-efficient city commutes to those who want more power for highway drives.

In terms of fuel efficiency, Kia claims that the 1.5-litre petrol engine delivers up to 16.5 km/l, while the 1.5-litre diesel variant achieves an impressive 21.5 km/l. The upcoming CNG variant is expected to surpass these figures, further enhancing the Carens’ appeal among cost-conscious families.

Kia Carens: Now More Versatile Than Ever

With the launch of the new CNG option, the 2025 Kia Carens becomes an even more well-rounded MPV. It now caters to customers seeking a cleaner, greener, and more affordable way to travel—without compromising on space, features, or comfort.

This addition underlines Kia’s commitment to offering multiple powertrain options—petrol, diesel, turbo, and now CNG—ensuring that every type of buyer finds something suitable within the Carens lineup.
