Earlier this year, Hyundai introduced a significant update to the design and features of the second-generation Creta. Following its launch, it was only natural that the Alcazar would receive similar enhancements.
Now, Hyundai has officially unveiled the refreshed Alcazar, with a price announcement scheduled for 9 September. Before its launch, here’s everything you need to know about the updated model.
Exterior Design
The Alcazar’s overall shape remains largely the same but now adopts the design language seen on Hyundai’s global models, particularly the Creta.
The front of the Alcazar still features its robust frame but now includes new low-set headlamps and H-shaped DRLs. Along the sides, the car sports new 18-inch alloy wheels with a fan-like pattern.
The most significant change is at the rear, where Hyundai has equipped the Alcazar with its signature connected taillights featuring stacked elements. Additionally, there’s a new rear spoiler, a high-mounted stop lamp, and a redesigned bash plate.
While the dimensions remain unchanged, these design updates give the Alcazar an even more imposing presence than its predecessor. While aesthetics can be subjective, a strong visual presence is crucial in this segment.
Variants and Colors
As with the outgoing model, the new Alcazar will be available in Platinum, Signature, Prestige, and Executive variants.
For both the petrol and diesel options, the manual transmission (MT) is available only in the Prestige, Platinum, and Executive trims. Hyundai offers seven single-tone color options, with only one dual-tone option—Atlas White with a black roof.
Powertrains
The powertrain options for the Alcazar remain unchanged. Buyers can choose between Hyundai’s 1.5-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. The petrol engine is a GDi turbo producing 158 bhp and 253 Nm of torque, available with either a six-speed manual transmission (MT) or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The diesel engine is a 1.5-litre unit, also found in the Venue and other Hyundai models, producing 113 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, paired with either a six-speed MT or a six-speed automatic transmission (AT).
Expected Pricing and Rivals
The Alcazar will compete with the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700, and MG Hector Plus. A slight price increase over the outgoing model is expected.
