The countdown to the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro has begun. And as thousands of athletes around the globe prepare hard to shine the name of their respective countries at the podium, luxury watchmaker; Omega is doing its own bit.
To celebrate the excitement and anticipation of this global event, it has taken sports timekeeping to another level by announcing the launch of the “Seamaster Diver 300M “Rio 2016” limited to 3016 units.
Inspired by the Copacabana waves, this limited edition beauty boasts of the wave pattern that has been taken from the mosaic design on Copacabana’s sidewalks and used as a motivational factor for a similar style on the watch’s striking lacquered black dial.
The upgraded and enhanced Seamaster Diver 300M “Rio 2016” features a uni-directional rotating diving bezel that is made from black polished ceramic. What sets this watch apart from its previous models, are the lacquered numbers in red, green, yellow and blue, which represent the exuberance of Rio as well as the five colours of the famous Olympic rings.
Other features of this timepiece are typical of the iconic OMEGA Seamaster 300M style. These include a date window at 3 o’clock, a helium escape valve at 10 o’clock, and polished facetted skeleton rhodium-plated hands coated in white Super-LumiNova.
Presented on a stainless steel bracelet, the timepiece is driven by the exclusive OMEGA calibre 2500 and is water resistant up to 30 bar (300 metres / 1000 feet). The screw-in caseback has been embossed with the “Rio 2016” logo and engraved with an individual Limited Edition number on the reverse side of the polished and brushed stainless steel case.
