The headline of this post probably will not surprise you, as many people have been ranting on the internet about this new scam that Air India has been able to crack after their merger with Air Vistara.
Well, let me tell you in a brief paragraph and then you can see the video embedded below, which is a little bit about this incident, but talks a lot more about the progress of Bihar, a state, I was born and brought up in.
So, here goes!
Two weeks back, I booked my ticket, (Delhi to Patna), via Air India in their premium economy section, paid my bill, and expected to have a stress-free travel. But to my agony, Air India sent me a message a day before my travel date, that my ticket had been downgraded to the Economy class.
No reasoning, no way out – plain simple diktat.
I reached the airport the next day and the staff told me that my ticket was downgraded (from 4A to 26E), because the aircraft had changed and in this one they had no Premium economy section.
I trusted the word of the lady in the uniform (my bad) and like a good boy that I am, took off towards the gate of my departure.
To my surprise, when I checked the boarding pass that she had given me at the airport against the pass I had used to do my web check-in, I found that both these aircraft were the SAME.
In simple words, the Airport staff at the airport had lied to me; the aircraft was the same and nothing had changed.
Anyhow, I get in the aircraft and what do I find? It has the business class section and the premium economy seats, one of which, by the way, belonged to me.
But, again, as a loser customer that we Indians are, I could do nothing, so I went back to my 26th bay and sat with a guy who was talking on the phone as loud as a bull F***** – you get the just.
Air India, did not offer to refund my money (the differential between the Premium economy and the economy seat), did not offer to pay the extra money that I paid to get that specific seat, and they did not offer me even a sorry.
